Afghanistan, India, Iran meet to finalise Chabahar Agreement
KABUL – India and Iran discussed the Chabahar transit corridor to finalise the transportation agreement, a statement released by Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
In the statement a meeting was hold between the representatives of the three neighboring countries to expand regional trade between the three countries. The representatives have decided to gather in New Delhi in order to finalise the agreement in the near future.
The Afghan government says that Chabahar port because of its strategic position is of particular economic importance to the countries of the region. At the sixth meeting of Regional Economic Cooperation Conference for Afghanistan (RECCA) in Kabul, it was decided that the Chabahar transit corridor agreement must be finalised as soon as possible.
Iran, Afghanistan and India intend to create an international transportation route that they have dubbed the Chabahar transit corridor – in order to expand the mutual cooperation between the countries and consolidate their ties in various fields.
