PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week 2015 nomi ansari stuns with a unique bridal collection

September is the January of fashion. Lahore, Pakistan's vibrant cultural capital, just switched off the lights and rolled up the black carpet, concluding a spectacular Pakistan Fashion Design Council Bridal Week. By the final day, the dazzling array of colours, fabrics and jewels made the perfect backdrop as friends and colleagues laughed and chatted on their third evening celebrating the craft that is Pakistani design. Armed with all this fashion, it's time for everyone to get in style for bridal season 2015/2016!

Asifa and Nabeel:

Asifa and Nabeel loved solid blacks and red, and some of their best looks incorporated this colour scheme. A blood red blouse that transitioned to black, set upon a flowing black lengha was understated elegance at its finest. Another standout look was the red choli and crisply cut same red lengha skirt, topped by a silver shimmering robe. The showstopping green and gold lengha was jaw-dropping,and the threadwork overall was intricately and masterfully done.

Nomi Ansari:

Nomi Ansari brought the wow factor! The rainbow of colours was a treat for the eye: A fuchsia choli with a white lehnga splashed with lemony yellow or a silver and gray top to go along with a descending firozi, mustard yellow, pink and purple or a light kameez with purple worked pants and a pink dupatta - the festival of shades worked perfectly together. For the men, Nomi brought a trendy aqua palette and white short coats for men with floral embroidery. It is this consistent sparkling manner that makes Nomi Ansari one of the most cohesive collections to walk the runway this week. Uzair Jaswal singing for the show and Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat being the showstoppers made this a show to remember! text

HSY:

And then there was HSY. What can be said of this brilliant dynamo other than he surpassed his own set bar. It was unapologetically dramatic in a way that just did not quit - from the very first model, who captivated everyone with her graceful movements to the music as a flurry of white petals were sprinkled from the ceilings. From the plaid A-line frocks, exquisitely crafted silver and gold waist dresses, the audience was left on the edge of their seats, necks craning to see the next look. Menswear was sharp and sophisticated, with clean lines and complementing colours. The light beards on the male models, and the fierce looks of the female models, kept in perfect pace with music to draw the audience into each outfit and story. Judging by the audible gasps and widened eyes throughout this collection, we can safely say there was no better designer to end the night, and this year's Bridal Fashion Week.

Shamaeel Ansari:

Shamaeel Ansari stayed true to herself with a signature collection consisting of chiffons, silks and floral jackets. Beautifully done bell sleeves and flowy-not-yet-sharara-pants was a repeated look and it was done with skill. The collection displayed an updated traditional wedding look. A particular favourite was the sleeveless wedding red and gold blouse to go along with loose pants instead of a lehnga. The model's long dark braid and trendy jewellery were perfect touches to bring the classic look into the modern era.

Saira Shakira:

The Saira Shakira collection was inspired by Russian Pavlovski posed shawls, and we can see just how detailed and feminine this aesthetic is, from the first look to the last. Models were styled with jewelry in their hair, a visual that tied the different looks together. A fitted gray top with wide-leg gray pants, topped with a belted yellow jacket stood out, as did the light pink lengha, with a gorgeous dupatta trailing behind the model.

Ammara Khan:

Ammara Khan showed a collection as strong as it was sweet. Light pink pleated pants, with a short silver kameez were made lovelier by the back of the kameez sashaying longer and flowing as the model walked the runway. Lenghas were the standout outfit of this collection, however, as the silvers and greens and gold ruled the day. Especially noteworthy was the designer's showstopper, set in a beige, off-white and a peach colour palette. Set in Chantilly lace, net and crochet, the dress was dreamy and sets new standards for the modern bride.
