North Korea to deal with US through nukes
Official says country improving nuclear warheads in quality, quantity
PYONGYANG - North Korean has announced it is ready to deal with US hostility "with nuclear weapons any time" and is working to improve the its nuclear weapons "in quality and quantity", the Russia Today channel reported on Tuesday.
"If the US and other hostile forces persistently pursue their reckless hostile policy towards the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, we are fully prepared to respond with nuclear weapons at any time," said the director of the North's Atomic Energy Institute, as cited by the North Korean Central News Agency.
The country has already started to operate a nuclear reactor at the Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Centre - North Korea’s major nuclear facility - about 90 kilometres from the capital Pyongyang.
"All the nuclear facilities in Yongbyon [Nuclear Scientific Research Center] - including the uranium enrichment plant and a five-megawatt reactor - were rearranged, changed or readjusted and they started normal operation," said the director of the Atomic Energy Institute.
