Artwork exhibition Nai Pod (A New Breed) kicks off


LAHORE: A group artwork exhibition titled "Nai Pod" (A New Breed) of 11 fresh graduates from different universities of Punjab and Sindh kicked off at Zulfi's Art Gallery on Monday.Renowned portrait painting master, Prof Saeed Akhtar has inaugurated the exhibition and admired the artistic artwork. On the inauguration, number of art students and art lovers thronged to the gallery.As many as 44 artworks have been displayed for visitor's on which they used different mediums including "Pointer and Gouache Wasli", "Collage", "Oil on Canvas", "Charcoal, Pencil on Canvas" "Plexi Glass Metal Rod", "Graphite and Acrylic on Canvas", "Screen Printing and Painting on Wooden Board", "Acrylic on Paper (stamping)", "Collagraph", "Graphite Dust on Canvas" and "Water Color Wasli".

Young graduate artists participated from Karachi University, Jamshoro University and the National College of Arts (NCA) including Rohail Ghouri, Mehr-Un-Nisa, Hafsa Sheikh, Fatima Batool Kazmi, Nasir Ansari, Sundeep Kumar, Shahmeen Arshad, Sana Shahid, Muhammad Abrar, Sahid Rafiq and Saher Shah Rizvi.Curator Nayab Shami talking to Daily Times told the purpose of the exhibition was to introduce the newly graduate artists with their new ideas in the society. She said that professional training is compulsory for the young artists to express the hidden ideas which could highlighted, after polishing by teachers and in-depth study in this field.She said that "The New Breed" has observed interpret and expressed their human experienced with society added that they create illusions where there is only reality. She said that breed seek spaces where no space exists.Major in printmaking from NCA, Muhammad Abrar said that his work has about the study of different patterns and how we conceive them in our mosaic life. He said that he tired to explore the connection between the traditional and the contemporary and exploration has depicted in his art making.

Abrar further said "I have divided my practices into two different disciplines one of these practices were deliberate, progressive, constructive and time consuming added that whereas the other is spontaneous, improbable, experimental and bold".The exhibition will continue until the end of October.
