Radical leftist Corbyn becomes head of Labour party


LONDON - Radical anti-austerity candidate Jeremy Corbyn has been elected the new head of Britain's main opposition Labour Party with 59.5 per cent of the vote, the party announced at a special conference on Saturday.

According to details, Corbyn - whose campaign has been likened to Greece's Syriza and Spain's Podemos - won against more centrist candidates: Andy Burnham, Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall.
